Shawnee National Forest - So. IL
« on: October 25, 2006, 12:41:44 pm »

Spent last week in and around Starved Rock and Matthiessen state parks.  With the Fall leaves hitting and surely passing peak in the Central IL area, I'm thinking of hitting Shawnee National Forest in So. IL for some final fall shots.

Anybody been down there recently?  Any places in that area you'd recommend?

Thanks!

The Cache River area  is great  (better in late spring though)

This is south of Shawnee Ntnl Forest.    several stands of Cypress trees.

the last link is Heron Pond  but taken in late spring or early summer.

I went there last fall and the colors just weren't too great.

Good luck in your hunt
