Best Quality, Most Idiot Proof Printer?
« on: October 24, 2006, 07:49:07 pm »

We have quite a few family occasions coming up over the next few months, and it would be nice to do my own prints rather than have to send away.

I'm looking for a printer which is basically idiot proof. Very simply, I want to connect it up to my Mac and for it to give me nice prints without too much user input or aggro

I would imagine my most used size will be 7x5 going up to A4. I doubt I'll be needing to go much above that.

I'd prefer not to spend over £250, or $450 USD.

Any recommendations would be gratefully received

I researched and bought an Epson R800 - just under $400, uses the best inks available right now, separate catridges for less cost...all reviews were very positive.  I have not used it yet, but I'll post a review when I do.

I do somewhat regret not getting the wide format now, as I find myself wanting more 11x14 than 8x10, but the cost increase was a little much for the use I would get.

If you can add another $100 I would suggest the R1800 to allow 11x14 prints as well.

I'm even contemplating selling the R800 on eBay and getting the R1800 now...
