Custome build
« on: October 22, 2006, 05:43:03 am »

A lot of people here are paying serious money for digital camera accessories eg. Contax waist-level finders for $500. Camera back adapters for $$$$. Cables for $$$$. Extra film backs for $$$$.

Now, how come nobody is commissioning a custom shop to construct stuff ? For $$$$ it would seem that a specialist mechanic could build a lot of interesting devices.

Interesting topic. I have had a local metal shop make a few parts. I've been thinking what to do about a view camera adapter - they are obscenely expensive! $2K for a normal adapter, $5K for a quad stitching adapter!! I have a feeling there's someone out there who could make a small batch for much less.

Maybe a paper pinhole frame for a digital back would be fun
