First Outing with 400mm F4 DO Lens
« on: October 20, 2006, 09:12:04 pm »

Taken at Melbourne Zoo with a 5D with 400mm F4 DO

Processed in DPP 2.2 with basic adjustments only - then sharpened in PS CS2 with PhotoKit Sharpen plug in.

I think the moment of capture is quite nice - but the straw is maybee a little 'hot'. could probably be bought down with some more work in CS2 - thoughts?

Tell us about the sharpness of the lens and how recently you bought it.  Does sharpness meet your expectations?

First Outing with 400mm F4 DO Lens

Lens is brand new and so far very happy with the sharpness and quality.

That shot has only very mild sharpening applied and only a tiny bit of creative sharpening on the eyes and whiskers - otherwise its pretty much as shot.

What I like most about this lens is how quick it is to get into position and use - this shot was handheld with IS.

I cant compare it against say the 300mm F2.8 as I dont own that lens - but I can tell you its easily the equal of the 70-200mm F2.8L IS in terms of image quality.
