Yes, yes, GF rocks - but this post was simply about my amazement at how uprezzable the Phase files were compared with my 1DsII.

i find that with the files from the P20 @ 50 or 100asa and my rollei lenses there is almost no limit on how big you can blow them up...i think there is a couple of reasons: there is no noise whatsoever (true at 50asa, maybe at 100as well), so only the information gets enlarged, there is much less of a pattern in the enlargements (compared to canon files) second: i need no sharpening, (if i know i will blow it up real big, i never sharpen anyway... ) so the funkyness that comes with sharpened edges simply isn't there...a 5x10ft print won't be examined from 6inches (or it should not be)...i have never actually made a print that size and if i would, i would look at a P45...i have taken parts of images and enlarged and printed them (the full image would have been enormous)..and was surprised....
DMF provides better pixels, MF lenses provide much sharper images with better contrast (i am always blown away by the schneider-rollei lenses)...better base iformation makes for better enlargement...
as good as GF is, i almost never use it anymore, because the P20 gives me a native 11x14 without interpolation, if i have to crop, i mostly just rez up to 125% or 150% in C1...i honestly can't tell the difference...with GF you can go up to 400% and the difference is marginal...with a good starting file...
with the canons, blowing up an area where the detail is "digital mush" (hair, skin or foliage in shadow) it just amplifies that and it does not matter if you go 200 or 800% it just takes what is there and makes it worse...
there is a new product by alien skin called "Blow Up", looks pretty promising, but does not seem to have any advantage over GF...
