Anyone using Realviz Stitcher on Rosetta?
« on: October 11, 2006, 11:57:16 pm »

Dear all,

I am finalizing the preparation of my switch to Mac Pro in a few months and have been spending time looking in details at what is available in terms of migration path for each software I use.

Realviz is telling me that they have a universal binary version of Stitcher in the pipe for 07, but that it should already work using Rosetta.

Has anyone used Stitcher on Intel Mac? How is the stability/performance?

thanks,

Regards,
Bernard

Bernard

I can't answer your question, but are you aware that PTGui is now available for Mac?

Some time ago I tried several trial versions of Realviz Stitcher but in my experience they were all unstable. (yeah, yeah, I'm on Windows......).

On the other hand I've found PTGui to be stable and is now capable of doing everything I need, including multi - row panos, 16 bit output, layered .psd file output, etc. I'm also able to include bracketed shots in the mix and it will automatically stack them on top of each other. It will then output a layered file for masking in Photoshop. I've output a few .psb files recently which have been close to 4gb.

On top of all this it's a lot cheaper than Stitcher. A trial version is available at www.ptgui.com .

Highly recommended.

I have no connection with PTGui other than as a very satisfied user.

Regards

Frank

Hello Frank,

Thanks for the tip.

Yes, I am aware that PTgui 6.0 does now have a mac version (I have in fact already downloaded it although I don't have a Mac yet ). I also have been using mostly PTgui 5.x for more than a year now and find it absolutely amazing, even more so when used on DxOed images.

However, I still use my 500 US$ Stitcher license from time to time for multi-media applications. I have found it to be inferior to PTgui for high quality stitches for print, but superior for Quick time generation. And it really would hurt to never ever use a 500 US$ license...

Cheers,
Bernard
