You always like crunch!  But, yes, it's very suitable for these shots.

I think on this one perhaps a bit too crunchy but that's just one opinion. The scene doesn't call for more drama as the drama is already self-apparent.

An eye-catching (IMO) look to both. In the b&w pic the slight diffusion takes the harshness off the contrast. Works for me.
