I just downloaded the latest ACR update and at 430MB, it is the largest yet.
Complete with this download is a set of camera and lens profiles for the two cameras I have, phone and a gazillion other cameras and phones.
If I install Lightroom, it has its own complete set of all the same profiles.
Over time this just keeps growing and I have no control over it.
If anyone from Adobe is reading, I'd like to encourage them to consider the following:
* Find a way for all of the Adobe apps to share the same set of camera and lens profiles that I've got installed
* Find a way for me to select which ones I do and don't install, independent of Lightroom/ACR
"Oh, but it's not that big"
The 430MB download almost doubles in size on disk. I've probably got over 500MB of installed files that I'll never use because I don't (and will never have) the matching device(s). The problem as it is is O(M*N). When a new camera is added, a whole new set of lens profiles are added. Rinse and repeat for each vendor.
"But that's only a fraction of a 256GB SSD"
After many years of operation and lots of other apps being used, a 128GB or 256GB SSD can easily end up with less than a GB left, leaving the owner to wonder "Where the f*** disk all my disk space go?!?!?!"
