Diamond Quarter, Antwerp
« on: May 28, 2018, 12:41:28 pm »

After New York, London and Jerusalem, the biggest population of Hasidic Jews lives in Antwerp, Capital of Diamond.
This very closed community lives in the neighborhood of the Central Station and for locals it is very normal to see those people come out to celebrate Sabbath. They don't like to be photographed, but they do not pretentiously object, something you can expect when shooting Muslim peoples.
A common misconception is the idea they are all rich. In contrary, a huge solidarity amongst them help the poorest Hasidic Jews. Restaurant and caterers share free meal without the negative connotation of charity.
It is a very closed community, I stopped shooting them on the street, but I hope one day to find an opening an make a reportage from the inside of this interesting community.

Nice group; for me, it's both the second and last shots  - human conditions in the jungle.

Very nice tones.
