Art Fairs - Lighting during the day?

Hi Guys,

For those of you that do Art Fairs - How many of you use lighting during the day? For dark/cloudy periods, or just because you aren't happy with how your prints are displaying?

I'm considering a setup of LED floodlights from the roof of my tent run from a battery...

By the same token, has anyone tried a dark roof and walls and used lights to spotlight the work as per a gallery?

Hi Dan,

I use LED lighting from ProPanels to light my booth.  It definitely makes a difference in how they display.  As far as dark roof and walls, I don't think it's a good idea.  In the first place, most reputable art shows will want/require you to have a white tent.  Secondly, you will be at the mercy of your battery for lighting, and if that fails you'll be without much lighting at all. 

Having said that, I do use dark gray Propanels to hang my work on which gives the booth a more gallery-like look.

I use lights at most of my shows. It makes a huge difference if you are in shade or it is overcast.
Barely worth it on clear sunny days when you are in full sun. I use track lighting and fixtures purchased from Home Depot.
LED's when using batteries and Halogen when I have power.  All PAR 30 size, mostly spot as opposed to flood. I also recently switched
from regular lead acid deep cycle batteries to a couple 100AH lithium Ion batteries. They are much lighter and last longer,
but much more expensive. One thing to remember is use a inverter that is rated only a little over the total wattage of your lights.
Using an inverter that is rated 2 or 3 times what you are using only wastes power as the inverter draws quite a bit itself.

I agree with Patrick regarding a black tent, I wouldn't do it.
