Stunningly landscape! Wow

Is this purely by filter on location, or did you enhance more in LR or PS?

High quality image, very good. I like the starkness of the scene, with the ice cold and the somewhat orange streaks in the sky and the shrubs.

First off, one of the best shots I've seen out of the last 10 or so... But just a comment. I find it likely that it's naturally this way and you didn't do anything, but I feel like the color bleeds from the sky to the middle of the mountains. It seems unnatural. If for whatever reason you added a circular adjustment there, I might suggest backing off the front part of the mountains and isolating the sky.

Thank you very much Ivo, glad you enjoyed it! :) I tend to do as much as possible on camera to minimise my post-processing time, but I obviously develop my photos in PS as well.

Simply amazing.

Thank you very much stamper, glad you liked it! :)

Lovely image Vieri!

Thank you very much Guido! :)

Thank you very much indeed Paulo, glad you enjoyed the chromatic contrast! :)

Thank you Maddog, glad you enjoyed it! :) No, there is no circular anything added, nor there is anything bleeding anywhere - I actually really love the reflection of the light on the mountain caused by the long exposure (3,5 minutes), and would never take it off, but thank you for your comment anyway.

A departure from the fiery sky images but I like this one a lot and coldness is just as spectacular.
Well done!

Vieri,

I have much enjoyed viewing your work for sometime now (I don't always comment), however this image is a bit of a departure from your usual work and it really caught my attention...

Stunning shot that captures much more than a landscape but rather an atmosphere...
I felt I was there standing looking over your shoulder!

Hope to see more...

I've seen so many images of the Vestrahorn that I was pretty convinced any new image would just be a rehash of something already done. Not so here. One of the best of this view I've seen.

It is hard to believe that somebody could criticize this very fine image

Hello Tony,

thank you very much for your very nice comment, much appreciated indeed! I am glad you enjoyed the image and the mood :)

I've seen so many images of the Vestrahorn that I was pretty convinced any new image would just be a rehash of something already done. Not so here. One of the best of this view I've seen.

Hello Bill,

thank you very much indeed, that is probably one of the best compliment one could do, when it comes to photographing such iconic places. For me, trying and find one's own interpretation of places that everyone knows so well is a great motivator, both for my own work and when I am out teaching - I am glad you enjoyed the results here!

It is hard to believe that somebody could criticize this very fine image

Thank you very much stamper, much appreciated! :)

beautiful :) brrrrrrr!

Thank yo very much! :)

Thank you very much Slobodan, I am glad you enjoyed it! :)

The relativity he used in his comment is the same I used in mine, so please allow me not being "literal" (that's why I claimed I speak spanish natively)
So, at the end, if you claim he can be mataphorical in his comments (It is hard to believe that somebody could criticize this very fine image), I guess I can do the same using the word "dictatorship", not as an accusation, just as a metaphor.
So I will be happy to play just the very same game everybody plays ;)

The difference is that Stamper has been here a long time and has over 5,000 posts and so he is known.  You are relatively new, and less known.  So when you chose to critique a comment by someone rather than discuss the image at hand, there is a natural presumption that you are taking issue rather than just waxing lyrical in metaphor.  In plainer English, it feels like you're stirring up trouble even if that wasn't your intention.  So, perhaps, a simple "Sorry, I didn't mean it that way" would be more effective than trying to debate a finer point of language and agree that you may not have read the original comment as intended?

... If I can not play with the same cards as everybody, just for being new, it's simple, I quit.

No need to quit. Come to our Coffee Corner where we discuss democracy, politics, climate, etc. You'd be right at home. Let's leave Vieri's thread to photographic comments  :)
