Recommendation for High CRI led bulbs?
« on: May 16, 2018, 07:45:21 pm »

Hi there,

I am reworking my home studio a bit and looking to replace my halogen spots by day light balanced LED with the highest possible CRI. I am looking for E26 or E27 sockets in 100V (Japan).

Would someone have recommendations about brands selling such high CRI lens?

Thank you.

Cheers,
Bernard

I am aware of Soraa bulbs which could fit the requirement of high CRI bulbs (CRI 95 R9 95) with E26 sockets. They used to manufacture 4000K and 5000K bulbs but these colour temperatures are not currently listed in their inventory, which only lists 2700K and 3000K bulbs.

I have no experience with those bulbs but have been considering those for a possible switch to LED light sources in my flat.

Cheers,

Fabien

Thank you.

Their pro line is distributed in Japan and I have ordered a few samples to test.

Their consumer line should become available in Japan from this summer.

cheers,
Bernard

A parallel question I would like to ask the team is the white balance of the lighting you are using for the "work" part of your studio?

Although I have been using a Tungsten lighting till now, I am moving to a 4000K daylight lighting.

Thank you.

cheers,
Bernard

Hi Bernard
are you aware of Yuji bulbs? They go up to 5000 Kelvin and claim a CRI of 98. I have them in E27 sockets and use them as ambient light for editing.

Yes, in fact I have bought some and tried them but I find their light too blue (no measure, just my feeling).

I prefer the Soraa 4000K I have just set up. They are pretty neutral and the light is more pleasing to my eyes.

Cheers,
Bernard
