I'm not a bird photographer but I quite like this one. Comments?

Nice catch!

During my last trip to Iceland, a fellow photographer was attacked by a skua… It was funny at the beginning, not so much after the fourth of fifth diving attack.

When I was photographing in Iceland many years ago I was told to put my hat on my tripod and hold it up a foot or two higher than my head. The Skuas than attacked the hat and left me alone. They are fierce, especially if you get near their nest.

That's what the photographer finally did after the first few attacks and it worked pretty well. Later, we discovered a skua nest on the ground and that's probably the reason for the attacks.

It's probably just as well I didn't get any closer to this one, then.

Wise move. Those birds are really protective and the perspective of having a few stitches as a trophy is not too enticing.
