Spring orchids: Sharry Baby
« on: May 07, 2018, 09:30:36 am »

Here's a nice way to welcome springtime and bringing my orchid collection outdoors. Sharry Baby is an oncidium hybrid that produces tall flower spikes with up to 50 small flowers each. This is the first bloom for this particular plant, which happens to have a total of three flower spikes at the moment. While the flowers are beautiful to behold, their fragrance is what many enjoy the most. Some call the fragrance as chocolate scented, I think of it more as vanilla-chocolate. Whichever one, the aroma starts to appear mid-morning and last until late afternoon. Combined with the fragrances from several other orchids in bloom, it is a great way to usher in the warmer weather.

I hope you enjoy the photo. Please feel free to C&C, and thanks for viewing.

Delightful picture, and the backstory on aroma of orchids is intriguing.
