Printing on Aluminum with the SC P800
« on: April 19, 2018, 09:28:29 am »

Hello,
I have some aluminum sheets from Booksmart Studios. I was printing  on it with the Epson 3800. Unfortunately, that printer died. I now have the SC P800. The Booksmart & associated websites list printers that are compatible with the aluminum paper. The Epson SC P800 is not listed. But, the 3800 is. I don’t know if this means that they have not yet created ICC profiles for the SC P800. Or, if it’s not compatible. I have called and emailed the various companies with no luck. Does anybody have any experience using the aluminum paper with the SC P800? And, does anyone know if there’s a compatible ICC profile? Thank you!

Any of the 17+" Epsons will work as they all allow straight through printing.

Just make sure you set the platen to the widest.

I doubt that there is much difference between one aluminium sheet and another as regards to the print process. The difference is in the thickness of the aluminium and how well it bends.
If it is thick and doesn't bend then you need the front feed.
Measure the thickness and compare to the manual.

Not sure how this thread works so I apologize if this looks like I am only replying to one person. All of the responses are helpful! Thank you all! I need to dig more deeply into some of these recommendations before I know if I have any other questions. Thank you. Thank you.
