ETTR question
« on: October 01, 2006, 08:31:48 pm »

I never thought of this until now but after ETTR and developing in the RAW converter, does one use the exposure slider to drag the exposure down and still preserve the captured tones?  or, does one use levels and highlight, midtone or shadow slider? or, how about a single point curve at the center point and drag it down?  is there a best approach or doesn't it really matter?

thanks

Since ETTR requires increasing exposure at the time of capture, the tool to compensate would be the exposure compensation slider, or AKA exposure slider. All of the other tools are best suited for contrast adjustments.

Wether using ETTR or not, it's best to set white point (exposure slider) and black points as the first step in tonal corrections/adjustments since the others deal with what happens in between.
