canon eos 5d ebay buy
« on: October 01, 2006, 07:45:35 pm »

sorry guys. There really isnt a section to post this, but I would really appreciate it if you could give me your honest opinion.

I just won an ebay bid, but I am very suspect of the seller. Have a lookie if you could
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=290035152902

Very very cheap and too good to be true i believe. I have not sent any payment yet. I am just deciding what to do.
If you have a look at the sellers previous feeback comments they are all good, but have a look at the items he has been selling. They are wierd.
He looks dodgy and suggested using a bank wire transfer.

What do you guys reckon?

Thanks.

take care. stewie

Dont be a sucker.  This has all the earmarks of a hijacked account.

I would not have bid on this item. Seller has zero feed back as a seller and only accepts wire transfer??? These are almost certain marks of fraud.

It's not a hijacked account, but rather a shell account. It's only a few months old, and the 13 purchases he's made are all under $1.00 each. If you send this guy any money, you'll never see it or a 5D again. That's the reason you won the bid at such a cheap price - no experienced buyer would touch this.

If you want to scare him off without telling him to pound sand, tell him that you will only complete the sale if he uses www.escrow.com for safety of both the buyer and seller. Since he can't defraud you with that, then he'll likely leave the scene.

You might end up with a nasty negative feedback from him just out of spite. If that's the case, just open a new Ebay account - you only have one feedback anyway so nothing's really harmed.

E-mail eBay and check with them. Wire transfer is a very bad sign!

Can't get something for nothing.

I sold my Dicomed Big-shot 4000 last month. ($1700...amazing price expecting about $800)

Anyway within days of the winning bid, I had folks e-mailing me about second chance offers on MY CAMERA via an e-bay clearing house.  One guy in NewYork almost bit but took the chance to e-mail me to see if it was real...which it was not!

If it is too good..... it is....!!

I think the fact that the account is now closed answered any lingering doubt.  I'm still amazed at how many people fall for this stuff - thousands every single day.  Speaking of which, I heard on the news the other day, that it's estimated those 'Nigerian Scam Emails' is now a 8 BILLION dollar per year industry!  P.T., you had it SO right indeed.
