Ink Spots on Print Margins
« on: March 28, 2018, 03:27:17 am »

Hi folks,

I've been futzing with some media configuration tonight on my Canon Pro-4000 (I noticed some banding on large cut sheets of Canson Rag Photographique that weren't reproducing on my rolls, so I setup a new identical paper type and performed a separate feed rate adjustment—worked like a charm). Unfortunately, now whenever I print a particular document on either the rolls or the sheets of this paper (but not on other paper that I've tried), I see a few bright dots or streaks of single ink colors (usually red or blue) on the left and right margins of the print.

The only thing I've done tonight is make feed rate adjustments, but I don't recall ever seeing this before. What should I be looking for as the culprit?

A couple of possible things to check:
Lower the vacuum level
Lower the maximum ink level
Do a nozzle check
Check the paper type is correct.

Good luck, let's hope it's something obvious.

At this point, the issue has not reproduced, so for now I will cross my fingers; I'll run through that checklist if I ever see it again, though! Thanks!
