Have you looked at her web site. http://www.juliaannagospodarou.com. or her co-authors web site http://www.bwvision.com.

There is a  45 page book preview here (link from sales page, if this direct link doesn't work):

https://www.dropbox.com/s/cl8op24yk7pi9mu/From%20Basics%20to%20Fine%20Art%20by%20Julia%20Anna%20Gospodarou%20and%20Joel%20Tjintjelaar_PREVIEW.pdf

There are also tutorials and various other bits and pieces on both web sites that help get an idea of what its about.

I'm not sure what my views are. I pre-ordered it when it was first announced, but  found it difficult because of my lack of understanding of Photoshop (and not having Photoshop).  Now, as you have raised it, and I have a much better understanding of Photoshop, I may well revisit it, even though I doubt I am going to adopt the approach: ND Long exposures plus luminosity masks and other selections to re-draw individual  tones within the image to match your vision of how they should look.

Cheers,
Graham

Mine is a PDF, but not sure if there is a choice of format.

Graham,

Thank you for the insight, as I was wondering about the "level" of PhotoShop user that would benefit from this.  I will probably give it a shot but I know I'm not as fluent in PhotoShop as I would like to be.  So this might just push me to learn something more then as well.

Thanks again!!

Having looked at it again, prompted by your post, and there is also a good amount about seeing and vision in the book, as well as the techniques, part.  I've also revisited the web sites I gave you links to, and browsing these proved useful.

I think the book is a bit pricey for what it is, but still a worthwhile read, even if you don't fully adopt the approach being suggested.

Cheers,
Graham

I purchased this book and read almost  all of it.  I am very interested in their processing methods.  The methods described by Julia were very detailed in concept, but not enough in demonstrating the techniques.  The chapters by Joel were sketchy and  detailed hardly enough.  His explanation was confusing and assumed you already how to use his techniques and
Needed much more detailed descriptions.  The chapter on his advanced methods using Luminosity masks was not adequate and assumes you already has detailed knowledge of using these, and did not really explain them enough.

They both offer additional videos at extra cost that may go into the detailed need, but that is an additional expense if one wants to pursue them.

IMOP, if one is interested in learning their processing secrets, this book is not for you.  It may be better to skip the book and just buy the extra videos.
