Vuescan Demo
« on: March 18, 2018, 10:20:37 am »

I'm currently demoing Vuescan and notice that I am unable to change the output color space from what appears to be the default sRGB.

I've read plenty of material / user guides and it appears that there should be an option on the Color Tab to change this (e.g. to Adobe RGB) but it is missing from my copy.  Note I have tried all three views (Basic, Standard and Professional) and it is not there in any.

Please could someone who has used the demo version confirm whether this option is hidden in the demo version (until one purchases a license).

Thanks

I don't know about the demo, as I have the full version for ages, but I can confirm there you can choose the color space, see attached screenshot.

That's interesting.  The version I have does not have a bunch of settings you have (see screenshot).  I guess they must be hidden in the demo version and only activated when a license is purchased.

Give us a screen print of the Input dialog.

Some options also depend on the actual scanner used.
The online manual is pretty comprehensive, IIRC in the supported scanners list one can see what features are supported with particular scanners.

Jasper.  Consider giving SilverFast a try. They have demo versions. Ai Studio is the pro version. Mark Segal's book is all the reference you might need.

Have you selected "Professsional" in the Input/Options dropdown?

I use the Professional version, but I'm not sure if it differs from the Demo version. When I select the 'Options+' button, the various tabs increase in number and get additional selection options when 'Options+' clicked again.

Cheers,

Have you tried contacting Ed Hamrick - www.hamrick.com - and asking him?

Always worth going to the source.

Anthony.

In the Color tab, try clicking on "Options+" at the bottom.

Just to address a few of the comments...
  • As mentioned in the OP, I have tried all three option view options (Basic, Standard and Professional).
  • Clicking 'Options+' just toggles between the three view options, per above.
  • I already have Silverfast - my query is about Viewscan
Thanks for your input.  I guess I'll have to contact Hamrick.  I assume the options will appear when I buy the professional license, but better check as only having sRGB is a non-starter.

I downloaded onto a spare computer, without registration.  Sure enough, the option for color space is missing.  Dug in further - there is a standard edition and professional edition, priced differently.  The color space control is only available on the professional edition (per the help), which is apparently not what you get for the demo.
