Z3200PS Weird Behaviour From Empty Red Cart
« on: February 23, 2018, 05:06:35 pm »

My HP Z3200 prints suddenly showed a distinct deficiency in red.

A nozzle check print showed no red swatch at all, instead showing a black swatch identical to the adjacent black. Note the left-hand print, above. The swatch at extreme lower right is printed as pure black.

I subsequently pulled the red cart and noticed that it felt empty. I replaced it and, a couple of nozzle cleans later, my red was back, as the right hand print shows.

At no time did the printer inform me that the cart was empty, it simply decided to begin printing black through the red channel.

Comments?  Ideas?

Need to replace the Red/Black (MK/R)printhead.  Hope that's all it is.

Don't fiddle with the printer until you get that printhead replaced.  A new one.

Also, you need to have red and black (MK) carts at least 75% full when you replace the printhead at this time.

Wow.  Scary.  It seemed all fine after the change.  It's still under warranty. (Just)

What's the best port of entry to the warranty claim department?  Bought online in USA from Pro Imaging Supplies. Canadian resident.

Email sent to Alejandro B. as a backup.

Thanks for the warning.
