So the current backs had a screen problem then...

I didn't see them mentioning anything in terms of color cast issue correction. Did I miss something?

please dont make sad Troll comments Bernard. There is no lens cast issue for 95% of Phase customers. I have never seen it once in all my time with a P45. want us to be snippy about Leaf's serious shortcomings?

It's an excellent update, though I'm annoyed that the live focus is not on back for untethered operation as well. (and that C1 4.0 is still months away)

Otherwise, a welcome revision: continuous shooting, faster writes, DNG, higher ISO's, better screen - all very good.

The tie up with Mamiya is an interesting thing for me too. does this mean a 39Mp ZD could be in the pipeline, or at least a 31Mp one, with C1 sotware to process. sounds promising!

Hum... I have zero problem discussing Leaf problems also, I don't use either at the moment.

It is perhaps true that 95% of P45 users have no lens cast problem, but I don't think that the figure holds for those using the P45 on a view camera, which I would do if I were to use one.

I fully agree that the upgrade is appealing in many ways, but to me it doesn't solve what I see as the #1 problem of the product, the one that prevents me from seriously considering investing that kind of money.

I am fortunate enough to be in a position to choose not to use products that I consider still imature, but I understand that many photographers have no choice but to overlook these limitations so as to take advantage of the many other advantages of the product. Good for me.

The info does not say it will shoot faster. It says it have a larger buffer.
If I understand this correct, it means that when you hit the wall and the back has to start eat thru all the information. you will be able to shoot a couple more pictures before this will happened.
They neither mention anything about faster read-out speed from the back.

..and I remember the roadmap from last fall; They promised wireless file transferee of RAW files to be seen in 3th or 4th quarter of 2006.

Like you I'm not about to spend that sort of money until these backs are near enough perfect. I'm sure if you do the sort of commercial work where you used to use loads of film they are cost effective after a short period, and eventually save you money.

When I can find a back that can be used on my Hasselblad and Linhof systems without any issues and provide me with noise free images with exposures up to two hours long I may be tempted. Until then I'll use film.  I have got a D200 which I think is great and that has stopped me using 35mm film, and I don't miss using film here either.

I still reckon it's early days and it'll be interesting to see what the next few months will bring for MFDB. The more competition the better as fas as I'm conncerned, I just hope the prices will drop substantially.

These are my thoughts that nobody will know before somebody gets there hands on the beast,
but.....

If the back needs a larger buffer, it will likely use it.
If the new back and the Sandisk cards could hold up the speed, the back wouldn't need a larger buffer.
But it needed a larger buffer to store the information in, and at some point the back will have build up so much information in the buffer, that it will need to stop and read-off to the flash-card or HD.
