Although interesting, it certainly is not anywhere near practical right now.  Even at that resolution, I noticed that the created bookcase sections do not look realistic. 

I would say give it at least 5 years before we start seeing it put to use commercially.

I would assume that PS content aware fill has to use some form of basic 'learning' algorithm to assess surroundings and design fill that is consistent with those surroundings.
