best way to connect a MacBook to multiple external monitors

Just succumbed to GAS and bought a new MacBook Pro. I'd like to use it with my 27 and 24 inch monitors, but with only 3 usbC/thunderbolt ports (how does that work?) I'm trying to figure out how to hook up two external monitors and backup drive(s) and ........  I'm sure there is a dongle for that, but any advice on which one would be appreciated.
