Inserting images into personal messages
« on: February 01, 2018, 08:07:54 am »

I am trying to include an image, for example a screenshot, in a personal message. I have tried the Insert Image button by inserting a plain text link, I've converted that to a hyperlink, and I've tried just www... (ie, no http...) Does anyone know a reliable way to do this? Copying an image and pasting into the message or between the Insert Image brackets does not work. I know it can work because I've seen it. I am using a Win10 machine.

Unless this works differently from forum posts, is it not the case that you need to actually "upload" the image to the LuLa server for it to be included in the message?

As one would do for a forum posting? There is no provision for "Attachments and other option" in a personal message unlike for a regular post. Only the button is available.

OK - then I have no suggestion for this. Sorry - interesting to know whether the capability exists.

hi Dave, I just sent you this same pic on a personal message.

The image is on phase but you need to add the.jpg after you cut and paste the URL into the insert image box :)

Hi Kevin. Yes, the image came through on my PM. Below (if it works) is a file from my desktop.

Below is an image from my website.

Obviously didn't work.  :(  Win vs Mac difference?

FYI, what I entered without the brackets:
C:\Users\David\Desktop\For Upload\Monsoon Clouds.jpg

The latter was on Zenfolio

There we go! Kevin, thanks for the call! Did you get the PM?

What worked:

So called direct link from Zenfolio

Obviously without the spaces in the brackets.

UPDATE: No luck with Dropbox yet.

David,
Thanks on two counts:
1.  Thanks for eliciting a method of inserting an image in a pm, and
2.  Thanks for posting that gorgeous photo!

Eric, aw shucks!

That did it Chris. Thanx! Just substitute dl=0 for raw=1 on the end of the link provided by Dropbox as seen below (special thanks to Neil Williams, too!)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7kgu05zfv0a6oav/Monsoon%20Clouds.jpg?dl=0raw=1  It also worked for this jpg image.
