Mar on print from new p800
« on: January 28, 2018, 07:24:51 am »

just purchased a new p800 to replace another that had a print head problem and was out of warranty.  seems im getting this 'mar' or smudge in the same spot on every print.  same on different paper, bit less on thinner material but still present.

any thoughts to get me through a sunday before i can call customer service tomorrow?  please note this is printed on letter size paper.

thanks,

g

In the reproduction of your 3.jpg below, are you talking about the area under the large white oval, or the smaller piece circled in red?

If the former looks like a head strike, in which case you increase the paper thickness setting and the platen gap in the driver. I can't explain the smaller object.

the small bit circled in red is just scanner dust.  its the white circle.

it was set to thick paper and printed using imageprint.

why would it happen only in one particular area? also upon inspection today in the light of day ive noticed pizza wheel marks.

i had neither of these problems on my previous p800.

wishing now i just got a canon...

It could be a slight (hard to see) convex curvature of the paper over that area. Did you widen BOTH the paper thickness and the platen gap settings in the driver?

That looks like there was tape on the paper. Weird, as that can't be it.
