Benq SW320 Not enough Luminance
« on: January 05, 2018, 02:49:48 PM »

Hi there,
I have a Benq SW320, can't seem to get the luminance up above 80 if using the calibration 1 or 2 setting which is all you can select in Palette Master software shipping with the screen.

I notice it seems to struggle with the dark patches needing more than 5 takes to get it right. Anyway, when done with the process I always get a failed verification with a delta e of 5-8.

I can use I1 profiler but have to use the Adobe 1998 setting to achieve reasonable luminance.
If I make a smoothed gradient in Photoshop you can see a significant step in the gradient. Not nice. I have a 27inch LG Ultra HD monitor next to it and that gets great results in comparison.

Anybody with the same problems out there, or perhaps some advice, I spent a lot on this monitor and it seems to be pretty bad. perhaps I should have forked out for the Eizo or NEC instead.

Regards

If you use "Advanced" mode in BenQ's Master Palette Element, you can set the luminance yourself.

My BenQ SW2700 is going back to the shop today.  First one had awful uniformity, and this second one is much better.  However, it still fails BenQ's uniformity test using the BenQ software.

I will get an NEC PA242W.  I would like a 27 inch screen, but that is a step above what I am prepared to pay.  But better to have a 24 inch NEC with good uniformity than a 27 inch BenQ.

Funny thing is I set it to 120 or 160 and after the calibration the result is 79. The monitor in calibration 1 or 2  won't reach more than 80.
