Beautifully simple, David. But more importantly, simply beautiful!

Thanks, guys! Simplicity was what I was going for, obviously, which may be why I was so fascinated with this tree.
All the best of the season to you and yours.

Would like to have seen a fraction more all way around...sky is so nice would be nice to see little more of that as background. The subtle tone and pattern in clouds might be worth looking at little more structure there too. /B

Thanks for the comment, Brandt. I actually took several different shots, including some from back a bit at two or three distances and decided I liked this one the best. It's from a small sensor camera (Nikon 1) and those longer shots lacked something in detail or quality that I am not sure I could explain. Similarly for the clouds, as it was, I pushed the sky about as far as it would go, at least with my skills, before the noise became unmanageable and I was trying to keep a light hand due to my reputation for the opposite ;)

David - The “noise” you see on screen (at, perhaps 100%?) may not be obvious on a print, at least that’s been my experience with the even smaller sensor of the RX-10iii: what looks like pushed Tri-X on screen, smoothes out to Pan-X when printed to 13”.

A great point Terry and of which I am aware. I haven't printed anything from the Nikon 1, but perhaps should do some test prints. Thanks for the reminder!

I find this to take hold more each time I glance up at it above my work station today... Something in the solitary of the obvious, yet the interplay of the clouds whispering something and the loss and desolation of the cold horizon... Visiting a grave where there is yet to swell closure or a fragile love gone missing but still shaping tender words. I did enhance the cloud structure ever so slightly at the point of a tender embrace on the near plane of the tree fullness... Enjoying the triggers this is providing... Nice Dave

I couldn't help but rearrange your lovely words into an attempt at a poem, Patricia. Please forgive, and thank you.

Printed it. Definitely Pan-X. Did 20x13.3 and think it could easily go 24x16. Like Gomer Pyle, "Well, surprise, surprise!"
