Phase One 45 BR Vs 40 Rodenstock Hr on IQ3100
« on: December 20, 2017, 08:12:12 am »

Hello,
Yesterday I tested my new 45 mm br PO and, in the comparison with the Rodenstock 40 on the Alpa, it seems similar in the center but better in the corners. Perhaps the Rodenstock hr lenses ore not so good with the new 100 mp back? The  new 45 BR is a super lens?

I have both and they are pretty equal stopped down. However, at 5,6 or wider the new Phase One 45 is much better.

I did the test a F8 and the Phase One is equal in the center but better in the corners.

Got to point out: image circle...

The Roddie is able shift and stitch, the Phase lens just has to cover the sensor itself.

As the old contractors saying goes: you can have it good quality, you can have it cheap or you can have it fast. Pick any 2!

Same with lenses: resolution, image circle, price...  You need a bigger image circle, then ultimate quality will drop a bit in corners, unless you accept NASA/DoD level of pricing.
