Organizing "Other" Profiles in C1?
« on: December 19, 2017, 05:41:45 pm »

I have a bunch of custom ICC input profiles for my Canon 5DIV.  On the Mac, I can place these ICC files in my local ColorSync/Profiles folder and they will appear in C1 in the ICC Profile "Other" category for selection.  Cool.

However, the profiles appear as a long list, with no hierarchy, even if my ICCs in the ColorSync/Profiles folder are grouped in logically-named (sub)folders.  Is there a way to get C1 to respect this hierarchy so that the "Others" category is not a huge, rambling list of profiles but a list of subfolders that I can navigate through like the stock camera profiles in C1 (grouped by manufacturer, for example).

I am currently using C1 v11, Mac OS X Sierra.

Thank you in advance,

What you can do is just go to a photo taken with your 5D4 and then select the ICC profile under Base Characteristics, then click on the little icon with three horizontal lines and click on Save User presets, check both boxes and then save it with a name that makes sense to you.  Repeat that process for all of your custom ICC profiles.  They will now all show up under User Presets and you won't have to look at all the other stuff.  Just click on the User Presets Item and that list of presets with each custom ICC profile will be there.  Both Base Characteristics and User Presets can be found in the Color Tab (you can add them to any tab you want)

What I do is apply the created ICC profile to a picture taken with the concerned camera, then from the Color Editor tool save as ICC profile. In this way the saved profile (.icm) will be listed among the specific camera profiles instead among others.

See the tip in our Color Guide regarding the naming of icc profiles such that they auto organize:

Thank you all for your suggestions.  I will give them a shot.
