I had to be at the Ford dealership this morning at 8am to drop off my Fiesta to get the rear spoiler repainted: it was an after-sales addition that arrived at their works in primer, but six years later is almost primer again...

Anyway, under a thing called a Car Pyjama lay this friggin' day-wrecker. The chap at the garage tells me he has just restored it; it came from Florida or California, bad paint but no rust. It's the owner's second Mustang. The other one is a rag-top.

Some days start badly; I feel like letting them keep my Fiesta and I might just walk instead. My God, that '65 is one beautiful sight. As is the restored paintwork job they did. White and blue, so cute. Money? What's that?

When I was a boy our neighbor Virginia had a red Mustang convertible. Don’t remember the year but it was from the original ‘64–‘66 series. Every autumn she stowed it in her garage and every spring she brought it out again. It was always kept immaculate. If my playmates & I were good kids—stayed off her lawn and didn’t trample her flowers—we’d get occasional rides. Later on I got to drive it a couple times…that was a thrill! Sometime during my wanderlust period (‘80–‘85) Virginia moved, taking the Mustang with her.

Beautiful classic American iron.  Not quite my  thing, but I appreciate the presence of it.  My son absolutely digs 'em though.

Coincidentally, I recently had access to a Shelby much like the one you saw for a series of auto abstracts I've been having some success with.

Yeah. . .   If we’d only known, we’d have bought about 20 of these suckers brand new and put them in a warehouse in bags filled with nitrogen.  We’d all be sitting pretty as multi-millionaires now.

Who knew?

OK, I'll bite. Why do you need a spoiler living in Majorca?

Just thinking,

Just thinking,

Simple: to keep dust from settling so easily onto the rear screen every morning as it clings to the condensation we get because of the radical changes in day/night degrees.

Believe that and you'll believe anything. The real why is because it helps give the little car a less stunted profile. The very hot Escort had a beauty: a two-tiered honey. That wasn't my version of hot (lukewarm) Escort, though.

I have managed to get myself my initials in chrome plastic - the RTC from a Citroen... Looks cool under the little diesel plaque on the rear... You can order these letters from the States, but ordering anything from there into Europe attracts customs dues, which is bullshit. I couldn't find European makers of such joys, so going the scrap route was the free solution. I may remember to snap it with a camera and post it, but the only snap I did when it was first in place was on the cellphone and I have no idea how to get the image from that to this iPad.

Rob

Oy vey, what am I thinking? Snap the mother with the iPad!

Snapped, but shit, can't figure out how to get it from Photos in the iPad into LuLa on the 'pad either. Thought I could use the square with the arrow pointing upwards to do it, but no joy. Any ideas?

At least that's  the same colour as my old Rusty!

But this iPad tech destroys me. I get so far and then it all goes pear-shaped.

:-(

Looking back, things looked so much better then. I'd have Rusty back too any day in preference to this friggin' Fiesta... Ran them both for a year or so, but it made no sense, so I sold Rusty away. RIP, for he vanished from the local scene quite soon.

Worst case - mail it to yourself and save it to your PC, then upload to LuLa from there.

Tried that, as follows:

1. bring up Albums, within Photos;
2. click on image thumbnail and it then fills the frame;
3. click the box with the upwards arrow;
4. click Mail which brings up a page showing the image plus the Message box with To, Cc/Bcc and Subject;
5. click To: and write in the e-mail address;
6. click the Send button up on top of the box;
7. this then turns live and blue;
8. click it again;

and, nothing arrives on the computer.

Very frustrating!

Rob

OOOPS!

Just realised: I never have to switch on the WiFi connection of the iPad at home because it does so automatically. I just checked and it wasn't on, for some unknown reason! Switched it on manually, and the image is now in the computer! Sorry!

All's well wot ends well? You can see how vital both the spoiler and the initials; how else would I be sure I had the right car?

Let's try:

Ah!  The beloved Merkur XR4Ti (in the  States).  I wanted one of those quite badly back in the day :)

Lot's of room for drinks there then.

;-)

My XR3i was my favourite on that body shell; small problem was no power steering, but I think Ann's XR2 was even heavier to park.
