Profiling

Silverfast offer a scanner based printer profiling routine with their scanning software. They do have demo versions of their products but the printer profiling part is not included.
Has any one produced profiles using their methods and if so, how good is it compared to normal profiles  using standard calibration hardware?

I did try it with an Epson V700. The profiles were absolutely awful.
