A reply to Eric M
« on: October 28, 2017, 11:37:55 am »

Eric the sun shone yesterday and just in case you need evidence ;)..... Dawn was very foggy and I am still working out how to process soft foggy shots so any suggestions as to where to look or what to do would be appreciated. When the sun finally broke through it was wonderful, the temperature rose from close to freezing and the lack of clouds wasn't even a problem. Today is back to typical cold, wet and dreary. Ken

Hi Ken,

The second of these three is just a plain old beautiful landscape. But shots 1 and 3 really make my heart go pitter-pat.

I certainly wouldn't process anything differently in any of these.

I find that I encounter fog and mist sufficiently rarely that when I do, I worry a lot about how to process them. I've decided that what works best for me is to keep diddling with the image until it feels the way the scene felt.

These are lovely!

Beautiful photos, Ken - all three!

The first really benefits from having a clear, contrasty foreground as a foil to the mists in the mid- and  background. I find this helps to accentuate the soft features of a misty morning, something we get quite regularly here each autumn in southern Ontario - a least a dozen mornings or more through Sept., Oct. and even into Nov.

Number one has wonderful colors in a subtle tasteful way.

I like the first one with the fine haze pretty much!

I like all three but the ones with the fog (#1 & #3) are my favorites.
Well done!
