I am working with an aqueous printable clear film on my IPF8400. The problem is that
some rollers on the top cover are making tracks in the ink on the film. I realize I could
try to slow down the printing to get more dry time, but I wondered if there was some way
to either remove the front rollers when I work with material like this or somehow lift
the top cover and keep it open so printing could proceed, and when done, lower
the top cover.

You can print with the cover open, by folding some card, about 1x2" and fitting it into the slots on the left and right side, which are normally occupied by tabs on the cover. This'll fool the printer into thinking the cover is closed.
