BenQ SW320 monitor

I just purchased Benq SW320 monitor. And as the native resultion is so high, my text size became so small. I thought about scaling it to get a bigger size of text, but there is a warning "using scaled resolution might affect performance". I wonder - if I would use scaling in system preferences (I use Mac) would it decrease screen performance?
