Fall Colors/Landscape location in the West/SW
« on: September 12, 2006, 03:19:06 pm »

Hi all,

I will be having some time off soon and wanted to try and do a short fall colors trip to the west or southwest.  The dates are fairly flexible, from late Sept to late October.  I will probably go for 4-5 days.  I have been to Zion/Bryce, GC area, but not for fall.  I haven't been hardly anywhere else.  I am primarily interested in the fall colors combined with great landscape.  I'd like the place to be near (3-4 hours max) a major airport/city as I don't want to spend all my time driving.

Anyone have anygood suggestions for such a trip?

Thanks!

Dan

I would suggest Colorado - I was there last year for 2 weeks and I am just heading back for three weeks.

I am going back to the San Juan area - Ridgway/Telluride/Crested Butte/Gunnison. I had good success last year and leave on Friday for three weeks.

Hi guys, I'm new here but thought I'd add my $.02

You can't go wrong with Colorado and my favorite place for fall color is Kebler Pass and Ohio Pass near Crested Butte.

Dan,

I've been to Zion in the fall and it is wonderful. It's about a 2-1/2 hr drive from Vegas.
