Today I launched Capture One 10 with the express purpose of rating my pics. The goal was to quickly step thru each pic and give it a number rating. Things quickly came to a halt as it took from one to two seconds for each picture to paint on the screen.
The particulars of my setup are:
Computer:
Apple iMac, 5K, 27 inch, Late 2015
3.4 Ghz i5, 32 GB RAM
macOS Sierra 10.12.6
Software:
Capture One 10.2
Single Catalog; approx 22k images
Cache Preview Image Size = 5120k
The catalog is stored on an internal SSD drive. The photos are stored on an external HDD connected via Thunderbolt.
My image cache size was originally less than 5120 but after doing some reading I upped it to 5120 and Regenerated Previews. This made no difference. It's still taking one to two seconds to paint an image on the screen. I also tried it with OpenCL both on and off. This also didn't make any difference.
What am I missing? What should I try next? One to two seconds to view each picture is too long when rating a collection with two or three thousand pictures in it.
Thanks.
