Well, you're simply amazing, Tony, to be able to catch out someone who's a renowned teacher.

But let me explain something: Among those who were there and among those who write about the war on the basis of first-hand knowledge, the Mekong Delta often is referred to as the Vietnam Delta. I guess because it's the main delta in Asia, and because we did a lot of fighting there. I could tell that you didn't know that. So now you can catch out your teacher of geography on that one.

Okay, Tony. Sorry I ruffled your feathers. But if you understand what "delta" means you'll realize that although there may only be one other named delta in Vietnam there are any number of unnamed deltas. As Casey Stengel said, "You could look it up." And I'll admit that when I have to correct the English of a guy from Brisbane it's pretty tough, though I wouldn't go so far that I'd call it "scraping the bottom of the barrel."
