A good series (especially with titles in your blog.)
Your camera must be well-sealed.

That first one really captures the look and feeling of a monsoon downpour!

Eric, John, Bon, Francois and Scott - thank you.

Eric & Scott - these were taken from the car itself, stationed on a bridge. Both in Iceland and Goa I'm lucky to have guys who know what to do (with their vehicles) if conditions aren't suitable for stepping out.

Very good, really captures the monsoon somehow, although it's been a while I experienced it. I like the "texture" heavy rain gives on water and the patterns that arise when there's wind. You caught it well, here. Though I guess it would be visible better on a real print than on screen (as always ...). Thanks for showing.

Good shooting, Rajan. Looks like a typical morning in the Vietnam delta.

They are indeed good shots but Goa is on the west coast of India - several thousand kilometres from Vietnam...

Thanks, gentlemen.

Tony, Russ - doesn't Vietnam have a monsoon season? If so, there are perhaps similarities in the prevailing atmosphere during that time.

Hi Rajan. Yes, and the monsoon looks an awful lot like the pictures you posted. The trees are different, but the rain is the same.

With respect Vietnam is a completely different place to Goa, India but the Vietnam Delta is a particularly unique place somewhere in the universe because there is no place on this planet with that name - perhaps you meant the Mekong Delta?

Okay, Tony, I'll buy that. There actually are other deltas in Vietnam. But I won't buy "particularly unique." There's no such thing. It's either unique or it's not. Saying "particularly unique" is like calling a woman "particularly pregnant." Sorry, but the decline in the English language is becoming more and more disturbing, especially when you consider that language is what we think with.

Amen!

Didn't we have a solar eclipse recently that someone claimed was in "partial totality?"

Again, with respect, your debating skills may be better than your geography, but with your unwarranted criticism of my English it just shows you are scraping the bottom of the barrel!

There is only one other river delta in Vietnam apart from the Mekong and that is the Red River delta.
It has a specific name too!
There is no such thing as the "Vietnam delta".

Okay, Tony. Sorry I ruffled your feathers. But if you understand what "delta" means you'll realize that although there may only be one other named delta in Vietnam there are any number of unnamed deltas. As Casey Stengel said, "You could look it up." And I'll admit that when I have to correct the English of a guy from Brisbane it's pretty tough, though I wouldn't go so far that I'd call it "scraping the bottom of the barrel."

Truth is my geography is actually topnotch - it goes with my interests in photography too!
I have a sister who is a renowned teacher of geography with a Masters degree in the the subject - with several textbooks authored by her, yet I can catch her out any day of the week on her favourite topics.
I understand what a river delta is - that is not in dispute anyway.

The key point of the discussion is that there is no such thing as the "Vietnam delta" and that Goa and Vietnam are in no way co-incident.
