Yeh...if only it were that easy...just combine the specs...add a bit of salt and shake...presto.

And probably 2+ years of intense prototyping.

I just don't get your apparent reluctance at the idea that Nikon is about to enter the mirrorless FF market with an interesting offering.

Wouldn't it be better for photographers to have more options in the mirrorless segment? Do you prefer Sony to run a monopoly and keep increase their already very steep prices at every iteration?

Cheers,
Bernard

But when you compare a Sony mirrorless to the equivalent Canikon DSLR aren't the Sony cameras keenly priced?

The bodies are on the high end but reasonable indeed, the lenses are typically priced high I feel.

I actually happy to see both Nikon and Canon moving towards mirror less...actually think in 5 years we will see more mirrorless cameras being sold than DSLR.

I just find it funny that some people think it is so easy to develop a mirrorless system. Nikon will just come charging out with a system that just blows away everything out there...easy...peesy.

One thing to keep in mind is the sensor in a mirrorless system is much more prominent than in a DSLR. Much of the focusing is done at the sensor level...one big crutch for Nikon...they don't make their own sensors and are at the competitions mercy.

Actually... this seems like a very plausible scenario.

The bodies are arguably a relative bargain. Look at the prices compared to the roughly equivalent Canon/Nikon.

Some of the lenses are aiming at the higher end of the market and some of them are still relative bargains in my opinion. YMMV.

Whinges about Sony pricing seem to be widespread on line and I do wonder if part of this is brand snobbery. After all Sony make DVD players and they cost about £80...

Thom Hogan has a different perspective on the Nikon Full Frame mirrorless comment and it's source...

Keep dreaming bud.

The thing is, I don’t care if this forecast turns true or not, I’d be perfectly happy to expand my existing line up of Sony cameras (2 at the moment) to include an a9r. ;)

I am not hoping for Nikon to come up with an amazing FF mirrorless system, I just think based on simple logic that the odds they do are high.

I am aware that Thom has made a different forecast, I just think he isn’t right on this one. ;) But I could be wrong.

It wouldn’t be a problem if all the words pronounced were meant to be music to someone’s ears. ;)
