Florida Wetlands

Sympathy to all Floridians here - Russ, hope you're okay and the new house still standing, with no friendly alligators sitting in for breakfast with you.

Also, hope you all get your electricity back PDQ. We get the odd power outages here during storms,. but they seldom last for long, but whilst they do, one becomes painfully aware of how hard it can be to get a cup of coffee going... And how strangely thirsty that instantly seems to make one. The closest I ever experienced to day-long cuts to the gas and electricity supplies was in the 70s, I think it was, when the unions still ran the UK. Grey days.

Hi Rob,

We're down county highway 48 about 7 miles east of the house, in Mission Inn, which actually is a 4-star facility. We've gone home for an hour or two two days in a row. The house is in fine shape. One of our trees has lost a couple branches, and there's a lot of water on the ground outside, but we came off in good shape. Our community has a few trees down, one of which fell on a house, and a massive amount of debris on the ground. Worst problem is that power is down. We've already had to extend at Mission Inn for an extra night, and I suspect we may have to do it again. On the other hand, we just came back from the Margarita Lounge, which is part of Mission Inn. Had a great Margarita, and I'm happy as a clam, though I'd be even happier if I could get back into our house along with some power. The folks who live on the coast weren't so lucky. Gonna be a long cleanup over there. I can't complain.

Russ,

I'm glad you're doing as well as that, and I do hope you get power back on soon.

Hi Russ,

Glad to see it's not quite as bad as it might easily have been!

Reminds me of WW2 spirit - not the Margarita, of course...

Best wishes -

Rob
