Personally, the only photo in the essay I found interesting was shot at 1/125. The others... well, taste is personal. It seems to me that the uses of high-speed sync are not so many, even fewer once you take out what can be done with an ND filter. So I guess those who found it useful filed it away and those who didn't, didn't.
