Thanks for posting this, Andy.

This is a welcome addition from Sinar for anyone shooting view or shift cameras in the field with Sinar or Phase One/Leaf/Hasselblad digital backs.

For existing eShutter Control (studio) owners, most of the accessories for that unit will be compatible with the new portable eControl unit. This includes lenses in the previous 1/125 eShutter, although these can be upgraded to take advantage of the new 1/250th shutter, which would be beneficial for outdoor use.

Seems like the same battery that is in the Sinar S30 | 45 digital backs (and Leica S 007) will also power the new eControl unit.

While electronic shutters are starting to become more prevalent, they don't work for all situations, and the Sinar eShutter has evolved to become a solid alternative to copal shutters or older electronic shutter systems.

To emphasize - this solution can work for a Sinar user; Sinar digital back, Sinar P3 view camera or Sinar Lantec shift camera (for example). But it can also work for anyone using a Phase One/Leaf/Hasselblad digital back and using an Alpa/Cambo/Arca Swiss shift camera as well.

Thanks for the data sheet.

A couple of questions.

1.  What is the fastest shutter speed in the past 1/250th always seemed to be the top end of other EShutters and is there a B and T mode

2.  Cost?  For shutter and module?  For a Rodenstock 40HR-W.

Thanks

Hi Paul - 1/125th was the top end shutter speed until last year when Sinar announced the new shutters that moved to 1/250th. Nothing changes there, the change is that the solution now has a portable solution that does not require being tethered to a computer.

Costs will depend on the lens of course and the configuration (mount) that the lens is in.

The list price of an eControl unit is $2,721 and your lens would be $2,450 converted to 1/250th ES (USD).

They mention that the Sinar app can be controlled by the iPhone. So why would one get a separate E controller? Do they do the same thing?

In addition to (optionally) hosting the controls as an alternative to the iPhone, it supplies the required power.
