The photos are not fiction, they only document  properly prepared food for publicity; versus one that is not prepared with the purpose of being photographed for publicity.

There is even a movie about this:

People frequenting such places should demand more quality, after all, they have a perfect good photo to support that.

Why would anyone buy this stuff? No wonder the world is falling down into space under its own weight. It's all part of the same conspiracy: remove pleasant-looking women from magazines because only by seeing alternatives will folks realise where the majority is quietly heading.

It's sometimes said that today's obesity is brought about through sedentary jobs. Rubbish! During my own early time at work (mid-50s onwards) I remember seeing typing pools filled with young and not-so-young women sitting on their delighful butts all the working day long. Few - if any - struck me as fat. Fat comes through ingestion of too much crap food and grazing or a medical problem. There were few fat people as prisoners in concentration camps. As mentioned elsewhere, we are seeing the results of greed, where women are forced out of the home-making environment just in order to make more money for family to survive. Which it does, on one level, but not on another. That deprivation of a balanced home environment also leads to crime via feral kids. What some make for the wallet is paid for by the shitty life they get in return. I'd rather eat well and drive a cheaper car.

That Saturday Evening Post world was worth fighting for; you've now seen the alternatives.
