X1D vs DSLR color tonality?
« on: July 29, 2017, 09:07:12 am »

I know the X1D doesn't really have 16bit sensor readout, as its marketing would imply. However, is there still any basis for thinking that it has finer color gradation than regular DSLRs? I took a comparison, the X1D + XCD 30mm vs 5Ds R + 16-35III. Exported from Adobe LR, set to 5500k and "Camera Standard" profiles. One is definitely warmer than the other. But I couldnt really see a difference in terms of if one is better than the other

Attached are 100% crops from the center of the image.

Try a BW conversion on both images, darkening the sky. It should then become really obvious if there are any significant differences.
