Has anyone here had success in recovering and repairing a deleted jpeg? I have tried a number of options to but the recovered file cannot be repaired.

Depends on how intact the file is. If, say, it has a damaged header but the actual image data is okay then the damage can probably be cleaned up. How are your hex editing skills?

Hex editing skills is something I have not heard of! I have tried a number of applications and they all produce just a blank preview along with error message.

The last corrupt JPEG file I encountered was due to an
End Of File
marker that was missing. If you know your way around an appropriate editor, as Dave suggests, it's not a big deal unless the corruption turned the file into scrambled eggs.

Thanks for your replies.
I got lucky when someone suggested I try the free DiskDigger. This simple app did a great job and recovered a lot of files and most of them we usable. The important file was perfect and saved the day.
