Nice idea, Eric. I think the two #2 are the best.

Thanks Jeremy and Russ.
And Otto: I resisted the temptation to add a subtitle: "Just some trees Putin their toes wherever they feel like it."  ;D

And here are three more (and that's it, unless I find some thing stupendous).

These are really quite good, Eric. But to my mind, they are eerie and remind me of bones exposed as some earth recedes. Back to the earth they must go.

Yes.
I assume these are emerging from sand? Fine seeing.

Great idea, these are very inspiring indeed. I like the stark contrasts.

(For some reason I got reminded of Matisse cut-outs, maybe just because it's about dancers?)

A new series...

Noanet: cave drawings!

Strikes me as a great series of possibilities, too.

The problem with having "eyes" is that it distracts one from going about one's daily business, unless, of course, that is one's daily business.

Sounds like something Saul might have said, if he's said it...

Thanks everybody.

As for Matisse, I hadn't consciously thought of him, but I do like his cutouts better than most of his earlier work.
There is an interesting Matisse exhibit at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts, mostly of objects that he collected and then made paintings from. Tom the objects were fascinating, but most of the paintings seemed to me to pale in comparison. Often I was thinking, "He shoulda used a camera."

My tree roots are much more heavily processed than I am accustomed to, but once I hit on this high contrast effect with the subdued background, I decided I liked it.
