Clouds (and the moon)
« on: June 30, 2017, 05:59:31 am »

I first saw Alfred Stieglitz's "Equivalents" in the early 1970's and they have stuck with me ever since. Taken between 1925 and 1934, Stieglitz's B&W images of clouds were among the first photographs intended to free the subject from literal interpretation. Many thousands of photographers have experimented with cloud pictures since that time, but not I. Until last night. It wasn't planned – I just liked what I saw in the sky. The moon makes a small appearance in two of the images, making them less Stieglitz-style "equivalents" than the other two.

That is a very fine set, JNB, and worthy of Stieglitz.

It is a fine set. I particularly like the second.

Super! I find clouds often intrude into my Moon pics too!  ;D

Stieglitz came to mind before I read your comment.

Wonderful selection. I could lie down on the grass and look clouds all day. I guess you pushed the green slider way up to give that IR look.

Thank you all for your comments. A friend reminded me that Stieglitz's equivalents often had tree branches, and other "literal" things in the pictures, so I guess the moon doesn't matter from that perspective. It's inclusion was intentional on my part in any case.
