I open RAW images using Adobe Bridge, do the adjustments and save as TIFF images. Then in Bridge I will highlight the TIFF images and do a Photoshop conversion to save as small Jpegs to put on the thumb drive and plug it into this internet computer. (My work computer is images/Photoshop only - never goes online)

Every time I do the conversion from Bridge I get the copyright from a friend from a year ago and can't change it without manually re-putting in MY copyright information. Turn it off - and have to do it again every time I go to convert to small Jpegs once again. MY information stays with them when I transfer and use the image on other computers and here but it is frustrating that I can't automatically have my Copyright info default rather than my friends.

I have completely removed Photoshop and Reinstalled - photoshop CS6 - I do NOT use the online version and won't. I'll go with another program rather than do that.

Anyone know how I get the Copyright information I put in for me to stay rather than default to the older one for my friend?

Have you tried wiping your Bridge preference file?

You have to create a Metadata template within Bridge under the "Tools" menu>"Create Metadata Template". That's the menu it is under in CS5 Bridge. Fill out the fields (one of which provides a copyright entry) and save by giving the template a unique name.

Select all the images you want to apply this template to and choose under the Tools menu "Append Metadata" which will provide a fly out menu selection showing your uniquely named/saved template.

Tried both of your solutions. Did not work.

When I open the image to reduce it the Copyright for my buddy still shows up every time. Can't seem to get it off there. I have to delete and type in mine each and every time. Damn frustrating!

Then again, Photoshop doesn't allow you to increase the type size on the pages when you are looking at image file numbers. I get the feeling I'll be moving on to something else before long.

I'm sorry to say I left something out of my instructions. You must select the Bridge thumbnails (not opened images) and then select "Append Metadata". It's been working flawlessly for me for years in both CS3 & CS5.

Also, your buddy's copyright might be entered into one of the IPTC entry fields you overlooked and didn't delete among several other fields provided when you are creating your Metadata Template.

Tim,

Problem is that when doing the initial reductions for him to put on a thumb drive we did not set any Metadata. Just highlight an image(or more) showing on the page in Bridge/ Then in the bar above in TOOLS - scrolled down to Phtoshop and chose IMAGE PROCESSOR. This open Photoshop with the IMAGE PROCESSOR window showing. Put in the Open first image to apply settings. Then in #2 Select location to save processed images. Then #3 File Type and Resize to fit. Then #4 PREFERENCES I entered his copyright - symboo, date and name. Then hit RUN and the program takes care of the re-sizing so we can email the smaller images.

I CAN NOT get his copyright off of that page.

I have made a new metata template now but when I look at the small Jpegs it still has his copyright information on it.

In BRIDGE I can replace metadata all day long and it shows what I did when I check the image. When I use the TOOLS and IMAGE PROCESSOR it does not allow me to change my friends name.

Am at a loss with this one.

That sounds like you've got his copyright info in your Photoshop settings.
Also you do know that there are any number of utilities to strip off all metadata from a JPEG.

I remember having some seemingly odd issues with this not being able to change copyright.  Probably user error on my part but I did find a workaround that enable changes - perhaps give this a try

From Bridge Select Image or Images

Go to Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor

Untick Open first image to apply settings

Select folder location

Select Save as JPEG, size etc

Preferences change Copyright info as required.
If for some reason you cannot change then you can copy and paste the information from another document or use a template that you created previously with the Save dialogue in Image processor

Hit Run button
Images should open and close in PS and your copyright data should be changed as required

Am at a loss, too, especially since you indicated you never applied any Metadata before or during the Raw to Jpeg downsizing by first downsizing through Image Processor... which complicates things beyond what I can remember about the complexity of editing embedded metadata whose standards were established and engineered by an organization of programmers separate from Adobe.
