Possible to sync workspace settings?
« on: June 09, 2017, 05:06:10 am »

I would like to sync my workspace settings in both Lightroom and Bridge between computers.  According to adobe it's supposed to be available for everything but Photoshop CC, yet on the page it only gives instructions for a subset of their apps. - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/sync-settings.html

Anyone know how to do it?  I'm particularly interested in Bridge as I spent quite a while customising the interface to get it just right for my needs.

In general, you have to do it manually.

However, you can put the entire application support folder on something like Dropbox, and then referenced from each computer using aliases or symbolic links. This isn't officially supported, and you're on your own if something messes up, but I've used it for years with a PC and a Mac setup.

Cheers for that, John.  I'll look into doing that perhaps.

With Bridge you can copy your workspace settings files to another computer, put them in the appropriate place in the file system and when you start Bridge on this second computer you will have the same workspace options you have on the first machine.  I have done this in the past.

On Windows you will have to make hidden files/folders visible and the Bridge settings files will be somewhere in C:\Users\AppData\ in an Adobe folder I think.

Will that work between Mac and Windows?  I've got a MacBook and a Windows PC.

I have no idea.  I assume the settings file type is the same on both systems.  You would have to try it.
